Santa Monica
Hello humans!! It's me, Zehra, coming to you just like I said I would; plus a couple of weeks and minus around 20 posts. If you had read the first post of "Adventure Chronicles", you would know that I had promised to write a post everyday while I was in America. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I could not. Anyway, 20 posts would've been a bit overwhelming and you would've all have fallen asleep, woken up and left looking for a more comfortable place to sleep. So I decided that I would write a post dedicated to every city I went to. These posts will be shorter and will only describe highlights.
Let's get into dis-mis!!

Let's get into dis-mis!!
First of all let's talk planes, Qantas, babies and plane food. The trip to LA was OK, except I slept through dinner and I was starving when I got up, but I was so tired that I couldn't be bothered climbing over the two people that were blocking my escape to the food. I can't say much about the view, I'm afraid, as it was nightime while the A380 was making its journey over the Pascific Ocean. However, the entertainment included a whole season of Gossip Girl and Taylor Swift's new album, 1989, so I was pretty much set. The airplane rides varied greatly; some included a crying baby plus a kid that kept on kicking my chair which the parents weren't doing anything about. Some had great views, especially from San Francisco to Huntsville and Hunstville to Orlando. Oh and how could I forget? The views over Australia were pretty good too. (The top right is one from the down under.)
Sun-kissed skin, scorching sun and crystal waves. Flip flops and endless road trips. This is what I think of when I think of California; and although, Santa Monica wasn't a splitting image, it was close. We were staying right next to the beach, which meant next to the iconic Santa Monica pier; where we had dinner a few times at Bubba Gump. ("Run, Forrest! Run!")
One of the best things about Santa Monica? I can't choose. Who can choose between picture perfect sunsets and an avenue of undiscovered Californian shops. The hippie inside of me thrived, especially when I had on my coin necklace that I bought from Forever 21.
The first thing that we did in America is go on a tour around LA. When I say "the first thing", that is literally what I mean. From the airport straight to the bus, and when you've got a whole bunch of teenage jetalgged girls... let's just say we all closed out eyes for a second or two or 3600. As you can see, we say the Hollywood sign, the Walk of Fame and the "La Brea Tar Pits", below, Beverly Hills and downtown LA.
While we were in LA, we went on a day trip to San Diego. The first place we went to visit was Organovo, which is a lab where they 3-D print cells, which is amazing!! So far, I know that they have printed a functioning lung. I felt so inspired speaking to the engineers, lab techs and sceintists. We also had the opportunity to speak to the founder and one of his first employees. Their story is really inspiring. I was just so inspired! I can't think of a better way to describe what I felt like. Just, inspiring.
We also spent around six hours at Balboa Park, which, by the way, we needed more time to explore. Well, I could say that about everything we did really.

The last place that I found quite memorable was Mount Wilson Observatory. Though it is no longer at its height of excellence, it was still amazing learning about its history. However, that wasn't the part that I found memorable. I loved the steep, mountainous, exhilarating bus ride up to the observatory. The views were amazing and the road was so close to the edge, my heart did literally stop for a second. This picture (up) was taken while we were racing up the winding road. This picture (below) was taken when we were at the top, there were clouds all around us- it was amazing.
So there you have it folks! Zehra's impression and moments of Santa Monica. The next city that I went to is...
I'll give you a clue.
If you know where Pier (4*8+7) is, you'll know which city it was.
Comment down below if you can guess...
That's all from me for now, I hope you enjoyed reading this post!
Over and out,
xoxo,
Zehra (and Sara, in spirit)
